There's been a new additon to the Caudle family here recently. His name is Reilly. Reilly the "Golden Rettriever". He was born on April 4th 2017 and came home on May 15th. Benson, our Golden Retriever of 13 1/2 years, passed away on August 23rd of last year. It was a devasting loss for my wife Anglea and I. He was an exceptional Dog and he provided Waggy Tail & Smiley Face support for all except 2 of my CDs. We loved him very much as he was a never ending source of companionship, amazement and joy. Reilly has some big paws to fill but we expect him to be as fine of a boy as Benson was and he will continue in the tradition of Waggy Tail & Smiley Face support on my future projects. He enjoys knawing on my arm and hands despite the floor full of toys. He knows how to sit, lay down and has recently accomplished the feat of giving "High 5's". Much more to learn as that knowledge knot continues to expand with knowledge. He's growing like a weed and every time he stretches I swear he grows another 1/4 inch. Will have a picture to post on the site here in the near future but I've posted some pictures of Reilly on my Facebook page. He has many Likes!!! Visit us on Facebook if you have the chance!!
Twenty tunes from the various CDs are generating quite a bit of airplay on the internet radio site called "Jango". The title cut from the CD "Night Passions" is by far a favorite with the listeners. No doubt that it's tenor saxophinist Ziad Rabie's treatment of this tune as I knew when I was recording him that the track was incredible. This tune also featured jazz pianist Dave Zeltner who also put a beautiful solo on this tune. The llisteners are literally from all over the world. Want to thank all who are listening to the music and enjoying it. I am humbled!!
I've finally updated myself on Facebook. Setting the page up was tideous because I'm so unfamiliar with most everything on there but I'm learning. Added a page to reflect the site here. All six of my CDs are parked there now. Still working to get the other three up on the site here. A big thank you to those that have friended me there!!
Over the last 16 or 17 years I've had my music on the internet. Starting with the original mp3 site then moving on to a site called Soundclick where I’ve been for the last 12 years or so. These music sites give the unknown artist like myself a great opportunity to expose our talents to an astounding number of people around the world. On my Soundclick site, listeners from all over the planet have racked up nearly 80,000 plays of the six albums I have there. But, over the last 3 or 4 years I've been thinking about having something different. Something more to my liking. Something that I have totall control over. My own website. I took the first step awhile back and bought my domain name. Then I started researching site ideas, designs, templates, hosting, features etc…….10’s of 1000’s of these things. The overwhelming majority of which, had one thing in common. They were all the same cookie cutting, drag and drop, one page, scrolled templates that provide the end user with little control over the design, feel and look.
Somewhere along my travels I came across a design program called Freeway Pro. A program that generates it's on html code. I had literally wore myself out looking for something that appealed to me so I thought, I’ll just build thing myself. So I did.
In early 2013 I started working on the site. I had a general idea of what I wanted it to look like. I wanted each CD to have it’s own set of pages associated with it. Album artwork, inside booklet page, disc page, about page, contact page and so on. There’s even a page for my dog Benson, “The Golden Retriever”. Little by little, the site started coming together. I soon realized though, that this site would need to be a “responsive” design. The automatic ability for any site to be viewed on any device. Many people live on their smartphones, iPads and tablets. I had a basic idea of how this works but, I had no clue on how to get there.
I needed help. I wound up contacting a young man by the name of Caleb Grove of Grove Design. I found Caleb on the Freeway forums,“Freeway Talk”. Caleb is one of these guys that many users looked to for advice on various issues. Troubleshooting problems, explaining features of the program. How to do this and that. It became apparent to me that this was the guy to contact. So I sent him an email to see if he would be interested in helping me with this. Fortunately for me, he said yes!! So over the last 2 months or so Caleb and I worked to get the website exactly as I envisioned it. Caleb probably saved me years on getting this site completed. He not only built the responsive design but he also assisted me with finding a host and getting the website up and running. And up and running it is. A big, huge Thank You to him.
So here we have it. The jazzguitaristdavidcaudle.com website. I’m quite pleased with it and I hope you'll like it too. From time to time I’ll post some information here on the “News” page. A new album project in the works, video release etc....I’m thinking about doing a series of videos on my approach to the guitar. Like a million others I guess but perhaps some might find it interesting. How I see the fretboard through the prism of jazz theory. Left and right hand techniques and ways to develop the agility and speed. Things that I've come across in my 50 years or so of playing the instrument.
The music here is available for six of the nine CDs right now. Swing Street, Count Me In, Sentimental You, Into The Wind, See You There and Night Passions. I'll be working on getting the other 3 CDs on here in the near future. Each tune of the associated CD is available for download through the player provided by CDBaby. If you find something you like, you can purchase it right through the player. Pretty neat I think. The site here is secured but a purchase will take you directly to CDBaby’s site. Physical CDs can also be purchased through CDBaby as they stock the inventory for those of us who still like the round shiny things wih the album artwork, credits and so on.
If you would like to send me a email you can do so through the “Contact” page or perhaps sign the “Guestbook” to say hello, make a comment, or ask a question. I do look forward to hearing from you!!! Thank You for taking your time to visit my new site!!
